The Mizoram Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYCC) has alleged serious irregularities in the construction of the Ramrikawn–Sakawrtuichhun road, a key link connecting National Highway-54, and has demanded a thorough investigation into the project. The opposition youth wing has accused those involved in the construction of carrying out substandard work and engaging in excessive extraction of stone materials during the execution of the project.
Speaking to reporters after inspecting the road, MPYCC Vice-President Lalsanglura Sailo claimed that the quality of construction was far below acceptable standards. He alleged that several portions of the road showed signs of poor workmanship, raising concerns about the durability and long-term safety of the infrastructure.
The Youth Congress leader further criticized the state government, alleging a lack of effective monitoring and quality control during the implementation of the project. According to the MPYCC, public infrastructure projects funded with taxpayer money must meet established standards and ensure value for public investment.
The organization has called on the concerned authorities to conduct an impartial inquiry into the alleged irregularities and take appropriate action against individuals or agencies found responsible. It also urged the government to strengthen oversight mechanisms to prevent similar issues in future development projects.
The Ramrikawn–Sakawrtuichhun road is considered an important connectivity project in the state, linking local communities to the NH-54 corridor. The allegations have sparked renewed debate over infrastructure quality and accountability in public works, with demands growing for greater transparency in project execution and monitoring.
