Unidentified miscreants triggered a bomb blast at the residence of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Sapam Ranjan Singh in Manipur’s Imphal West district in the early hours of Friday.
No one was injured in the explosion, which left a small crater on the ground and caused minor damage to the walls of the compound.
Sapam Ranjan Singh, who is also the government spokesperson, said, “Under the prevailing situation in the State, I want those responsible to clarify such violent acts. In a social media post, Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh said that he visited the residence of the MLA at Konthoujam Mayai Leikai following the bomb blast at his residence.
“I strongly condemn such senseless and barbaric attack on the residence of a people’s representative. This act of violence is an attack on our democracy and the perpetrators will be brought to justice soon,” the Chief Minister said.
