BJP Mizoram president Dr K Beichhua has said the party aims to emerge as a strong political alternative and form its first government in the state in the 2028 Assembly elections. Addressing a party programme, Beichhua said the BJP’s central leadership was committed to strengthening the party’s organisation in Mizoram and ensuring that development benefits from the Centre reach the state. He said the state unit had recently participated in a national-level meeting in Delhi chaired by BJP president Nitin Nabin, where issues concerning Mizoram were discussed with central leaders. Beichhua also credited the unity and cooperation of party workers for the positive response to the state unit’s recent activity report. He called for greater participation from young people, claiming that the BJP was working to provide more opportunities for youth in politics and was gaining support among those seeking employment and development. Criticising the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) government, which came to power in 2023, Beichhua claimed that people had not seen the level of change they expected during its nearly three years in office. He also criticised the Congress and Mizo National Front (MNF), saying both parties had faced public scrutiny. Beichhua urged Mizoram’s people to support the BJP, arguing that closer alignment with the NDA government at the Centre would help accelerate comprehensive development in the state.
