A new legislative framework will be introduced by the Mizoram government to help its youngsters find legal work in India and abroad. The Mizoram Private Placement Agencies (Regulation) Bill, 2025 will be introduced in the next budget session of the Mizoram Assembly, which begins on February 19, according to a statement made by an official. Under the proposed law, private placement firms will have the power to legally recruit and dispatch job seekers—especially domestic workers—outside the state and abroad.
The project is a reaction to the legal issues that Mizo domestic workers have encountered in various countries over the past year, particularly in Syria, the United Arab Emirates, and other Gulf countries. The 2015 regulation, which only permitted private placement firms to help women find domestic work within India’s borders, is being broadened by this law.
Significant events will take place during the budget session, aside from legislative affairs. On the first day, Governor Vijay Kumar Singh will give his first speech, and on March 4, Chief Minister Lalduhoma will deliver the state budget for the fiscal year 2025–2026. The end of the session is set on March 20. A lengthy list of debate questions has been sent to the Assembly Secretariat; ministers are expected to respond to 740 starred and 88 unstarred questions during the session.
