The decision was taken as a crucial precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students against potential risks, including landslides, mudflows, and rockfalls, which are common concerns during such inclement weather.

Angela Zothanpuii, the director of school education, said that the order applies to nine districts, such as Aizawl, Kolasib, Lunglei, and Mamit. Most of the state is closing schools, but officials said that schools in the southern districts of Hnahthial and Lawngtlai stayed open because the weather there had gotten a little better.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has data that shows how bad the recent weather pattern has been. Serchhip had the most rain in the state, with 70.5 mm falling in 24 hours. In Hnahthial (55 mm), Siaha (37.5 mm), and Aizawl (36 mm), there was also a lot of rain. There were more recordings: 30 mm in Khawzawl, 25.9 mm in Mamit, 25 mm in Kolasib, 17.5 mm in Lawngtlai, and 2.2 mm in Lunglei.

The meteorological department has made more predictions for the area, saying that there will be light to moderate rain and thunderstorms with lightning all day Tuesday. Because Mizoram has difficult terrain, officials are keeping a close eye on things and have told the public to be careful. The situation is still changing, and local governments are keeping a close eye on the weather to see if more closures or safety measures will be needed in the next few days.
