Assam Minister for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, Kaushik Rai on Monday chaired a meeting with representatives of the All Assam Fair Price Shop (FPS) Dealers’ Association at the Conference Hall of his Office in the Assam Secretariat, to discuss various issues and concerns of FPS dealers.
During the meeting, the Minister held detailed discussions on the profit margin of FPS dealers and took stock of the present status of the matter. He also reviewed other issues raised by the Association, including renewal of FPS licences, transfer of FPS dealerships and other operational concerns faced by the dealers.
The Minister acknowledged the important role played by FPS dealers in ensuring the effective delivery of foodgrains and essential commodities to beneficiaries under the Public Distribution System (PDS). He assured the representatives that their genuine concerns would be examined with due attention.
Rai directed the concerned officials to examine the issues comprehensively and work towards appropriate and practical resolutions in accordance with the applicable rules and provisions. He also emphasised the need to ensure that the PDS continues to function efficiently while addressing the legitimate concerns of FPS dealers.
The Minister reiterated the Government’s commitment to further strengthening the Public Distribution System and ensuring smooth and transparent delivery of essential commodities to beneficiaries.
