The Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) in Mizoram has dismissed allegations of internal rifts within the ruling party, asserting that it remains united and focused on governance under Chief Minister Lalduhoma.
Senior party leader and Adviser to the Chief Minister, TBC Lalvenchhunga, said on Monday that differing opinions among members are a normal part of any democratic organisation and should not be interpreted as factionalism.
Speaking at a party function in Aizawl, he emphasised that the ZPM continues to perform better than previous governments despite occasional differences in views. He urged party workers to prioritise the interests of the state and maintain unity in public service.
Lalvenchhunga, who is also a member of the party’s Political Affairs Committee, stated that the organisation does not differentiate between senior and junior members, and credited its success to collective effort.
He also addressed recent speculation over internal discussions and claimed that certain information had been leaked and misrepresented to create unnecessary controversy. According to him, attempts to weaken the party through misinformation would not succeed.
The clarification comes amid political speculation following a recent reshuffle of ministerial portfolios, including changes involving Home Minister K. Sapdanga. Opposition leaders had alleged growing instability within the ruling party, claims which have been firmly denied by ZPM leadership and the Chief Minister.
