Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Thursday chaired the third meeting of the Mizoram Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation (Mi-PRAGATI) initiative, where he reviewed the proposed ₹44,800-crore railway project from Sairang to Hmawngbuchhuah and 53 major infrastructure projects funded under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF).

Held at the Chief Minister’s Conference Hall, the meeting focused on accelerating the implementation of key development works across the state. Officials examined the progress of 53 RIDF-funded projects, each valued at more than ₹3 crore, and discussed the reasons for delays along with measures to ensure faster execution.

Railway officials presented details of the proposed 224-km Sairang–Hmawngbuchhuah railway line in Lawngtlai district, which is estimated to cost around ₹44,800 crore and is expected to include 20 stations. The project is being viewed as a major infrastructure development that will significantly enhance connectivity in southern Mizoram.

Officials also informed the meeting that the proposed Thenzawl railway station site may be relocated closer to Thenzawl town, following suggestions from the Chief Minister, as the original location was considered too distant from the town centre.

The review meeting also covered several flagship projects, including the Ropuiliani Tribal Freedom Fighter Museum, the State Tribal Institute, PM SHRI initiatives, Swachh Bharat Mission works, the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project, and key Public Works Department projects.

The Chief Minister directed departments to address bottlenecks and strengthen monitoring mechanisms to ensure timely completion of all ongoing development works.
