Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has urged individuals receiving family pensions through fraudulent or invalid documents to voluntarily surrender their Pension Payment Orders (PPOs) during a three-month amnesty period. He warned that strict legal action will be taken against those found guilty after the deadline.

Launching the statewide “Sensitization of Voluntary Surrender of Pension Payment Order (PPO)” campaign in Aizawl on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said the initiative aims to prevent the misuse of public funds while ensuring that genuine pension beneficiaries continue to receive their benefits without interruption.

Under the scheme, individuals who are not legally entitled to family pensions can surrender their PPOs between July 1 and September 30. The government has decided to waive recovery of pension amounts already received by those who voluntarily surrender their documents within the stipulated period.

Lalduhoma stated that after the completion of the amnesty period, a government-appointed task force will conduct detailed field verification of all family pension beneficiaries across Mizoram. Those found to have obtained pension benefits using forged or invalid documents will face cancellation of their pensions and legal proceedings.

The Chief Minister said the move reflects the government’s commitment to maintaining transparency, protecting public resources, and ensuring that pension benefits reach only eligible beneficiaries.
