A ceremonial plantation drive was organised at Khonsa in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district under the nationwide “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0” initiative, bringing together the Assam Rifles, Khonsa Forest Division, civil administration and elected representatives. The programme aimed to promote environmental awareness, afforestation and greater community participation in conservation efforts. Environment and Forest Minister Wangki Lowang, Borduria-Bogapani MLA and Advisor to the Minister for Environment and Forest Wanglin Lowangdong, senior Assam Rifles officers, Tirap Deputy Commissioner Badonlum Tawsik, Superintendent of Police Aditya, ADC Khonsa Namneet Singh, CRPF representatives and other dignitaries participated in the event. The plantation drive highlighted the shared responsibility of government agencies, security forces, local administration and communities in protecting forests and preserving the region’s natural heritage. Organisers stressed that sustained afforestation and environmentally responsible practices are essential for creating a greener and healthier future for Tirap and Arunachal Pradesh. The initiative also sought to encourage citizens to actively participate in environmental protection and make tree plantation a continuing community effort. By bringing together multiple stakeholders, the Khonsa programme reinforced the importance of collective action in strengthening ecological conservation and promoting sustainable development across the region.
