Maruti Suzuki India Limited, India’s largest passenger car manufacturer, has announced a plan to invest ₹125 crore toward green energy initiatives, including two biogas projects, by the financial year 2030–31.
As part of this initiative, the company will set up an operational biogas plant at its Kharkhoda facility in Haryana within the current financial year 2026–27. This plant will have a daily production capacity of 10 tons. For its second green initiative, the company will increase the biogas production capacity at its Manesar plant from 0.2 TPD (Tons Per Day) to 0.7 TPD.
Maruti Suzuki has undertaken these steps primarily in response to the Government of India’s “Waste-to-Wealth” call, which encourages generating resources from waste. The company will invest ₹150 crore* across two plants with the objective of making renewable energy solutions easily accessible.
In this context, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, stated that the company is actively working on alternative initiatives to reduce dependence on fossil fuel consumption and oil imports.
