Consumers and cooperative members across India are set to benefit from the Tribhuvan Sahkari University Bill, 2025, which was passed in the LokSabha on March 26. IFFCO, the world’s No.1 cooperative, has welcomed the move, stating that it will strengthen the rural economy, improve cooperative businesses, and create new job opportunities.

Union Minister of Cooperation and Home Affairs Amit Shah emphasized that the university will provide specialized education and training to support cooperatives, ensuring they can deliver better services and products to consumers. Dr. Udai Shanker Awasthi, Managing Director, IFFCO, hailed the initiative as a transformative step for Indian agriculture and cooperative markets, while IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani stated that the move will help cooperatives expand globally and enhance consumer trust.

With over 8 lakh professionals expected to be trained annually, the university will equip cooperatives with the tools needed to meet consumer demands. International Cooperative Alliance Director General Jeroen Douglas praised the initiative, calling it a milestone for the global cooperative movement, reinforcing India’s leadership in cooperative business development.
