A midday meal service for disadvantaged patients and their families visiting the hospital was introduced by the Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital and Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) in the presence of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha. The Tripura CM said, “The meal costs just Rs 10. One of the oldest hospitals is Agartala Government Medical College and Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital, also referred to as GBP Hospital. There are now 150 undergraduates and roughly 89 graduate students enrolled. Now, a midday meal service has been introduced in partnership with the Patient Welfare Committee and the Rotary Club, offering meals for just Rs 10. I fed a patient myself, and they were overjoyed. You can see how important it is to obtain a dinner that contains lentils, vegetables, and eggs for under Rs 10.”
A new shelter facility has been built for relatives who accompany patients in addition to the meal service. This program greatly lessens their sufferings by guaranteeing them a place to stay and access to reasonably priced meals. “We have made sure that this program stays within our budget because the Honorable Prime Minister has emphasized the significance of such efforts. For those arriving from outside, we are also building a shelter area where they can remain and eat. We are aiming to improve this facility, which has already been launched,” Saha continued.
