Security forces seized 26 grams of Mandrax, also known as Methaqualone, and apprehended a person during a joint operation in the Bordumsa area of Changlang district in Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday, August 12.
The operation was conducted by the 20 Assam Rifles in coordination with the Arunachal Pradesh Police based on credible intelligence inputs, officials said.
Acting on the information, the joint team carried out the operation in the Bordumsa area and recovered 26 grams of the suspected narcotic substance. One person was apprehended in connection with the seizure.
Following the operation, the apprehended individual and the seized contraband were handed over to the Bordumsa Police Station in Changlang district.
The police will now carry out further investigation into the source of the substance and its intended distribution, while taking necessary legal action against the apprehended person.
Authorities said the operation was part of continuing efforts by security agencies and the state police to prevent the trafficking and distribution of narcotic substances in Arunachal Pradesh.
The latest seizure also highlights the ongoing coordination between security forces and the state police in tackling the movement of illegal drugs in areas bordering other northeastern states.
