Flipkart has partnered with India Post to strengthen its last-mile delivery network and expand e-commerce access across rural and underserved regions in India. The collaboration will utilise India Post’s vast network of more than 160,000 post offices, most of which are located in rural areas, enabling deeper market penetration beyond major cities.

The partnership reflects Flipkart’s evolving logistics strategy, which now combines its existing infrastructure with external delivery networks. While the company has built large-scale operations through Ekart, warehouses, and urban delivery systems, the latest move indicates a more asset-light and partnership-driven approach to growth, particularly in low-density markets where delivery costs are higher.

Under the agreement, customers will receive services including cash-on-delivery, prepaid deliveries, returns management, OTP-based delivery authentication, and real-time shipment tracking. According to industry experts, hybrid logistics models are becoming increasingly important as e-commerce companies expand into smaller towns and semi-urban regions.

Experts believe the collaboration will help Flipkart improve operational flexibility, reduce infrastructure costs, and manage demand surges more efficiently. The Department of Posts also stated that the partnership would support faster deliveries and better coordination across urban, semi-urban, and rural India.

The alliance comes at a time when competition in India’s e-commerce logistics sector is intensifying, with companies focusing on wider reach, faster deliveries, and cost-efficient expansion strategies.
