The Assam–Mizoram Inter-State Border Festival was celebrated with vibrant enthusiasm at the Joint YMA Field in Vairengte to foster friendship, mutual understanding, and peaceful coexistence between neighbouring communities. Jointly organized by the Kolasib district of Mizoram and the Cachar district of Assam, the event brought together political dignitaries, administrative officials, police representatives, athletes, and cultural troupes. The chief guest, Mizoram Deputy Speaker Lalfamkima, emphasized that administrative boundaries must not sever historical bonds, calling for enhanced collaboration across trade, agriculture, sports, and youth development while warning against misinformation that could harm inter-state harmony. Supporting these sentiments, Dholai MLA Amio Kanti Das and Cachar Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar Gupta highlighted the role of cultural and athletic exchanges in deepening brotherhood and resolving border disputes amicably through peaceful dialogue. Addressing regional security, Kolasib Superintendent of Police Lalrinpuia Varte commended the ongoing coordination between Assam and Mizoram Police forces in curbing cross-border drug smuggling and illicit trade. The celebration featured traditional dance showcases from both regions, musical performances, local product exhibitions by ATMA and MzSRLM, and friendly sports competitions in futsal, badminton, table tennis, and volleyball. Concluding with a vote of thanks from Kolasib Deputy Commissioner H. Dolianbuaia, the festival reaffirmed both states’ shared commitment to enduring peace, security, and cooperation along their border.
