BHIM Payments App, developed by NPCI BHIM, has launched the third edition of its ‘Meethi Diwali’ campaign in partnership with Goonj, combining digital payment engagement with support for the education of underprivileged children.
Running from October 19 to November 8, 2026, the initiative will see BHIM contribute towards providing school kits to children in need of learning support for every seventh transaction made by a user on the app. The campaign seeks to encourage everyday digital payment usage while directing consumer participation towards a social development objective.
The initiative highlights how digital payment platforms can use routine transaction activity to support community-focused programmes, particularly during high-engagement festive periods. BHIM aims to extend the spirit of Diwali beyond consumption and celebrations by helping improve access to essential educational materials.
GauravKochhar, Chief of Business at NPCI BHIM, said the campaign connects everyday digital payments with opportunities to support children’s learning. Anshu Gupta, Founder and Executive Director of Goonj, said the partnership would bring technology and citizen participation together to provide learning resources with dignity.
Mehul Gupta, Co-Founder and CEO of SoCheers, said the campaign aims to make routine digital transactions meaningful beyond the festive season.
NPCI BHIM Services Limited, incorporated in 2024 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Payments Corporation of India, operates the BHIM platform to promote secure, accessible and user-friendly digital payments. The campaign reinforces its ‘Bharat KaApna Payments App’ positioning while linking digital adoption with social impact. No financial value for the school-kit contributions was disclosed in the announcement.
