Vodafone Idea (Vi) has launched a new value-added proposition by bundling free international roaming as an in-built benefit across select prepaid, postpaid, and enterprise plans, enabling eligible subscribers to stay seamlessly connected in over 170 countries without needing to purchase separate, costly roaming packs. Promoted under the campaign tagline “Vi Pe Sab Hain VIP,” this initiative allows customers to utilize international roaming services for up to three trips annually, with specific data allowances and outgoing calling minutes varying according to the chosen plan, potentially helping frequent travellers save up to nine thousand rupees a year. Vi Chief Executive Officer Abhijit Kishore noted that the offering directly tackles the traditional anxiety and unpredictability associated with using mobile phones abroad, emphasizing that the company’s solution ensures a subscriber’s home number travels with them completely free of charge. By integrating international roaming directly into standard tariffs, the telecom operator seeks to eliminate common travel hassles such as purchasing local physical SIM cards or digital travel eSIMs, losing active access to an essential Indian mobile number, missing critical security verification one-time passwords, or incurring unexpected financial penalties from high roaming fees. To activate the service, eligible users simply need to open the official Vi mobile application, navigate to their applicable Roam-Free plan, and activate the international roaming benefit ahead of their departure, allowing them to retain full connectivity and convenience on their existing number while traveling overseas.
