Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, arrived in Mizoram on Monday and inaugurated the Aizawl Institute of Arts and Music for the North Eastern Region at Tuivamit Tlang.
Received by Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma, Scindia also virtually laid the foundation stones for nine critical DoNER-funded development projects across the state.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Scindia emphasized the Northeast’s vital role in realizing the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047.”
Marking his 35th visit to the region in two and a half years, he praised Mizoram’s scenic beauty and rich musical talent, urging the preservation of its cultural heritage alongside modern progress.
Highlighting infrastructure and accessibility as key focus areas, he noted that 75 percent of the approximately 375 DoNER projects sanctioned for Mizoram have already been successfully completed with commendable quality.
The nine newly launched initiatives span various essential sectors. Infrastructure upgrades include road improvements for the Daido-Vangkawt, Pukzing-Silsuri, and Tualpui-Champhai routes, alongside the upgradation of Oil Palm link roads across Kolasib, Mamit, Lunglei, and Lawngtlai districts.
Other major projects feature a 132 kV transmission line from Bairabi to West Phaileng, the augmentation of the North Vanlaiphai Water Supply Scheme, the construction of an AYUSH Development Centre at MINECO, a 40-bed hostel for the ANM School in Zemabawk, and comprehensive statewide sports infrastructure development.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma thanked the Union Minister for his continued dedication to the region, expressing optimism that the new projects will bring significant growth and blessings to the people.
