The Meghalaya Football Association (MFA) has suspended two Mizoram footballers, Flavius Lalruakima and C Vanlalhriata, who were playing for Nongkiew Irat FC in the ongoing Shillong Premier League, following allegations of their involvement in match-fixing.

The MFA’s decision aligns with a ban imposed by the Mizoram Football Association (MFA), which recently barred 25 players, including Lalruakima and Vanlalhriata, along with three officials and three clubs, after a probe by Mizoram authorities uncovered corruption through match manipulation. The bans range from one year to lifetime suspensions.

“We stand by our sister association and will debar these players from participating in any district-affiliated league in Meghalaya,” the MFA stated. Officials emphasized their commitment to maintaining the sport’s integrity, adding that match-fixing has no place in football. The MFA’s action also serves as a warning, sending a strong message to deter players from engaging in illegal activities that compromise the spirit of the game.
