The Mizoram government has declared Dry Days in Aizawl for the municipal polls in the state capital. In exercise of the power conferred by Section 4A of the Mizoram Liquor (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2025, Commissioner of Excise & Narcotics, Government of Mizoram has declared Dry Days for the whole area of Aizawl Municipal Corporation with effect from 4 pm of April 20 to 4 pm of April 21 (i.e. 24 hours immediately preceding the conclusion of voting) and shall includes re-poll day (April 23), if necessary and on April 27 (the date on which the counting of votes is to be taken up) on account of general election to the Aizawl Municipal Corporation, 2026. During this period, sale and consumption of any intoxicating liquor or wine shall be prohibited· in the said areas. Polling for the capital city’s civic polls will be held on April 21.
