For the first time, Mizoram will be represented at the prestigious Reading Decathlon, with Mount Carmel School and La Montessori School selected to participate in the competition organised by Food4thought in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on November 29.
Four students, who emerged victorious in the State Level Competition, will represent Mizoram at the national event: Rebek Malsawmzuali and Krista Roluahpuia Khiangte from Mount Carmel School, and Malsawmhlui Pachuau and Joshua Lalawmpuia from La Montessori School.
Ahead of their departure, Mizoram Youth Commission (MYC) Chairman Malsawmzuala Ralte addressed the students at the MYC Conference Hall on Wednesday. He congratulated them for becoming the state’s first representatives at the Decathlon and encouraged them to maintain strong reading habits while representing Mizoram on a national stage.
The Reading Decathlon, renowned for fostering literacy, critical thinking, and analytical skills among young students, will provide an opportunity for Mizoram’s representatives to showcase their talent and learning. Organisers and state officials expressed confidence that the students’ participation will not only bring recognition to their schools but also inspire other students across Mizoram to pursue excellence in reading and academics.
