The Mizoram government is all set to sign a peace accord with the Lalhmingthanga Sanate-led faction of the Hmar People’s Convention (Democratic), or HPC(D), on April 14.
According to a State Home department official, the agreement will be signed at Sakawrdai village in Aizawl district bordering Manipur.
The agreement follows recent talks in Aizawl between government representatives and an HPC(D) delegation led by Sanate.
The official said that on behalf of the State government, the Home Secretary will sign the pact while Sanate will sign on behalf of the outfit.
Political Adviser to the Chief Minister Lalmuanpuia Punte is expected to be present during the signing of the agreement, which will coincide with the surrender of 43 cadres of the group. The signing of the agreement will be followed by the initiation of the process to rehabilitate the surrendered cadres.
