The Office of the District Civil Supplies Officer, Hnahthial, has invited proposals for financial assistance under the Mizoram Consumer Welfare (Corpus) Fund 2026, encouraging organisations and individuals to undertake projects aimed at promoting consumer awareness, education and rural empowerment across the state. The initiative is being implemented in accordance with the Mizoram Consumer Welfare Fund Guidelines, 2022, which seek to strengthen consumer rights, improve public awareness and support welfare activities that benefit consumers, particularly those in rural and disadvantaged communities.
According to an official notification issued on June 22, eligible applicants can submit proposals focusing on consumer literacy, consumer education, rural consumer empowerment and other activities related to consumer welfare. Authorities have stated that preference will be given to projects that directly benefit rural populations and economically weaker sections. Officials said the programme is intended to encourage greater participation from civil society organisations, educational institutions and individuals working in the field of consumer protection and awareness. The fund aims to support initiatives that help consumers make informed decisions, understand their rights and access grievance redressal mechanisms more effectively.
The notification also specifies that all proposals must be aligned with the objectives outlined in the Mizoram Consumer Welfare Fund Guidelines, 2022. Applicants will be assessed based on their eligibility under the prescribed guidelines. For non-governmental organisations (NGOs), obtaining a unique identification number through the NGO Darpan Portal of NITI Aayog has been made mandatory. The department clarified that no financial grant will be released to any NGO without the required registration and identification number. Interested applicants have been asked to submit their proposals online through the department’s official email address on or before July 3, 2026.
