A joint celebration marking the Foundation Day of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh was held at the Durbar Hall of Lok Bhavan in Aizawl under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative.Mizoram Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), attended the programme as the chief guest. In his address, he extended greetings to the people of both states and noted the progress achieved since they became full-fledged states in 1987.The Governor said that despite difficult terrain and geographical challenges, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh have made steady development in recent years. He highlighted the role of the youth and stressed the need for better connectivity and cooperation to help the states contribute to the larger goal of Viksit Bharat @2047.

He also spoke about the strategic importance of both states due to their location along India’s international borders and their role in the Act East Policy. Referring to the Bairabi-Sairang railway line, he said the new connection has improved internal transport in Mizoram and supported tourism and trade.The Governor mentioned that Mizoram is recognised as India’s first fully literate state and is known for its large-scale ginger production. He described Arunachal Pradesh as the “Land of the Rising Sun” and referred to its hydropower potential and growing kiwi cultivation.The programme was presided over by Pi Lalhruaitluangi, Additional Private Secretary to the Governor. A video message from Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen KT Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd), was screened during the event.

Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal of Government T. Romana College, and Ms Api Hiba, a scholar from Mizoram University and President of the Arunachal Student Union, Mizoram, spoke about the history and importance of the two states. A tourism film highlighting the culture and natural beauty of both states was shown. Students from the Regional Institute of Paramedical and Nursing Sciences (RIPANS) and Government T. Romana College presented traditional Mizo and Arunachali dance performances.
