Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has formally taken charge as president of the ruling Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), following the party’s appointment of new office-bearers for the 2026–28 term. The announcement was made on September 21 at a function at the ZPM office in Aizawl, where ZPM Val Upa Council secretary Thangchungnunga introduced the new leadership. Lalduhoma succeeds Lalliansawta, who has been inactive due to health-related concerns. The new office-bearers include former Assembly Speaker and State Planning Board vice-chairman Dr Kenneth Chawngliana as senior vice-president, Hrangturzo MLA and Chief Minister’s political adviser Lalmuanpuia Punte as vice-president, and Lunglei West MLA T. Lalhlimpuia as treasurer. The appointments follow an amendment to the ZPM constitution that allows the Chief Minister to simultaneously hold an elected office-bearer position in the party. The party has also shortened the tenure of the previous office-bearers, which was originally scheduled to continue until next year. The leadership changes reorganise the ZPM’s organisational structure for the 2026–28 term, with Lalduhoma now holding both the Chief Minister’s office and the party presidency.
