Indian Institute of Technology Madras has announced the opening of admissions for its BS Degree Programmes for the 2026 academic cycle, with May 31, 2026 fixed as the last date for applications. The institute said the programmes are aimed at making high-quality IIT education accessible to a wider and more diverse learner base across India. The BS Degree portfolio includes BS in Data Science and Applications, BS in Electronic Systems, BS in Management and Data Science, and BS in Aeronautics and Space Technology. The programmes are open to anyone who has completed Class 12 and carry no age restrictions.
IIT Madras said the programmes are delivered primarily online with in-person examinations conducted at centres across the country, allowing learners to study flexibly while maintaining academic rigour. Students can also pursue the programmes alongside regular undergraduate courses such as BCom, BSc, BBA, and Engineering degrees. Prof. Prathap Haridoss, Dean (Academic Courses), IIT Madras, said the programmes are designed to help students build strong foundations in technology, data, and interdisciplinary learning while improving career opportunities.
The institute highlighted that admissions do not require clearing JEE and are instead based on a qualifier process. IIT Madras also offers fee support of up to 75 per cent for eligible students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
