Chief Minister Lalduhoma and Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), met at the Chief Minister’s official residence on Sunday evening.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the Secretary for the approval of the NEC-funded project “Sustainable Cultivation of Mizo Ginger USP.” He stated that Mizoram produces high-quality and pure ginger, and that NITI Aayog has even recognized Mizoram as the “Ginger Capital of India.” He added that the approved fund would greatly benefit ginger cultivators across the state.
The Chief Minister also raised the need for a more systematic and transparent implementation of the 10% Gross Budgetary Support (GBS). The DoNER Secretary assured him that the matter would be looked into.
Under the NESIDS (Roads) scheme, the Khankawn to Rongura Hmun road can reportedly be extended by about 1.70 km to connect with the Thenzawl–Buarpui Intermediate Lane, which would be highly beneficial. The Chief Minister requested that the extension be considered, and the DoNER Secretary assured that necessary steps would be taken.
Sanjay Jaju informed the Chief Minister that efforts are being made to facilitate the entry of private investors for the development and upgradation of the Thenzawl Golf Resort. They also discussed several pending DoNER scheme projects concerning the Government of Mizoram.
