Contraband drugs worth around Rs 2.35 crore were seized in two separate incidents in Mizoram and three persons were arrested in this connection.
Police said a vehicle (bearing registration number UP32NZ6396) was intercepted by Saitual Police team on the outskirts of Keifang.
On checking of the vehicle, 71 packets of suspected opium fluid were recovered which was concealed inside the vehicle proceeding from Manipur towards Aizawl.
The contraband was recovered and seized from the possession of:
Somraj (36) and Kailash (28), both from Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
The contraband weighed 45.871 kg, having an estimated value of approximately Rs 2.29 crore in the grey market.
A case has been registered at Saitual Police Station and further investigation is underway.
In another incident, Champhai Police halted one vehicle proceeding from Champhai towards Aizawl at Khankawn Check Gate for routine checking. During the search, two soap cases containing 29 grams of heroin with an estimated market value of arouns Rs 5,80,000 were recovered and seized.
A case was registered in this connection at Champhai police station under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
