On 26 June 2026, Assam Rifles organised a lecture session at Holy Cross School, Vengthar, Champhai to commemorate International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event aimed to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and the threat of illicit trafficking, while encouraging students to adopt a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.

A total of 365 participants, including 15 teachers and 350 students, attended the session. The lecture highlighted the harmful effects of drugs on physical and mental health, its adverse socio-economic impact, and the growing challenge of narcotics trafficking in border regions. Students actively participated in interactive discussions. The school administration expressed appreciation to the Assam Rifles for their initiative in guiding youth towards a responsible and drug-free future.

These initiatives underscore Assam Rifles’ dedication to youth empowerment, rehabilitation support, and fostering a drug-free border region through proactive community engagement.
