The official candidate of the ruling Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) party, K. Laltluangkima, filed his nomination paper today for the Rajya Sabha poll.
He filed his nomination papers with the Returning Officer, Zothansanga Ralte, Commissioner and Secretary of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly.
The election for the lone Rajya Sabha seat in Mizoram will be held on June 5.
According to the notification issued by the Election Commission of India, candidates intending to contest can file their nominations until Monday, June 8, 2026. The scrutiny of the filed nominations will take place on June 5, 2026, and the deadline for the withdrawal of candidatures is open until June 11, 2026.Voting will take place on June 5, 2026, from 9 am to 4 pm. The counting of votes will begin at 5 pm on the same day.
On June 18, along with Mizoram, 10 states across India will elect their Rajya Sabha MPs. These states are Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Rajasthan.
