Gautam Gambhir is believed to be leading the race to become the next coach of the Indian team. However, no BCCI official has opened his mouth in this regard. The officials have received the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) report on the next coach. CAC members interviewed interested candidates. The new coach will be selected with due regard to their recommendations or suggestions. Joy only said that the names of two people are under consideration.
The West Indies BCCI secretary said, “The work of appointing a new coach and national selector will be completed soon. The CAC has recommended two names as coaches after interviewing the interested parties. We will decide on this after returning to Mumbai. VVS Laxman will accompany the team as a coach on the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe. The new coach will take charge of his next tour to Sri Lanka.
According to board sources, the CAC has recommended the name of WV Raman besides Gambhir. The series of three T20Is and three ODIs in Sri Lanka will begin on July 27. The new coach will take charge of the Indian cricket team in that series.
