Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan is scheduled to arrive in Mizoram on Friday for a two-day official visit to attend the convocation of Mizoram University (MZU), officials said on Thursday.
The Vice President will address the 20th convocation of the central university at 11 am on Saturday (March 7).
He is expected to depart from the state immediately following the conclusion of the ceremony, they said.
In preparation for the high-profile visit, state Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena recently chaired a high-level meeting to review logistical arrangements. Representatives from various government departments coordinated their respective responsibilities, focusing on protocol, reception logistics, and the overall schedule to ensure the program’s success. Officials added that elaborate security arrangements have been implemented across the capital.
To facilitate the Vice President’s movement, the Aizawl Superintendent of Police (Traffic) has issued a traffic advisory.
Under the order, vehicle parking and the placement of goods are strictly prohibited along the route from Lengpui to Lok Bhavan via Vaivakawn, as well as between Lok Bhavan and Chanmari, from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on Friday.
A similar prohibitory order will be in effect on Saturday from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm for the road connecting Lok Bhavan to the MZU campus via Temple Square and Vaivakawn.
Additionally, heavy and medium vehicles are prohibited from plying in both directions on the Aizawl bypass road (Sairang to Zemabawk via Bawngkawn) between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.
