Union Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal interacted with representatives of several non-governmental organisations and community leaders in Mizoram’s Mamit district and assured support from the Central Government for the welfare and development of the people.

The interaction programme was held at the Tourist Lodge in Mamit where leaders of major civil society organisations took part in discussions with the Union Minister. Representatives from organisations including MHIP, YMA, MUP, Village Council (VC) and MZP attended the meeting and placed before the Minister various issues concerning the district and its residents.

During the interaction, the NGO representatives and community leaders raised concerns related to public welfare, local development and administrative challenges being faced in different parts of the district. The meeting also focused on the role of community organisations in maintaining peace and supporting development activities in Mizoram.

Addressing the gathering, Arjun Ram Meghwal said the Central Government remains committed to supporting the people of Mizoram and assured that all possible assistance would be provided wherever needed.

He said resolving public problems and ensuring better governance remain among the top priorities of the government. The Union Minister also appreciated the contribution of civil society organisations and local bodies in maintaining social harmony and helping government agencies in carrying out welfare and development programmes.

“The role played by NGOs and community-based organisations is very important in strengthening society and supporting development activities at the grassroots level,” he said during the interaction.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Mamit district Suvigya S. Chandra and Superintendent of Police Manny Bhushan Singh.

Both officials assured the participants that the district administration and police department are committed to addressing public grievances in a prompt and effective manner. They also said efforts are being made to ensure smooth coordination between the administration and local organisations for the benefit of the public.

The interaction meeting was seen as an important step towards strengthening communication between the government and civil society groups in the district. Community leaders present at the programme welcomed the opportunity to directly interact with the Union Minister and share their concerns and suggestions related to the development of the region.
