UIDAI (5)

As part of proactive steps to guarantee the continued integrity and accuracy of the Aadhaar database, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology stated, in order to deactivate the Aadhaar IDs of deceased individuals, UIDAI has obtained 1.55 crore death records. No Aadhaar number is ever given to another individual. However, it is imperative that an individual’s Aadhaar number be deactivated in the event of their death in order to guard against identity theft and unauthorized use of the number. Before deactivating a deceased person’s Aadhaar number, it is crucial to confirm their status because it could have far-reaching consequences for them.
