In a decisive move to support residents impacted by recent unrest, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced compensation packages for properties damaged during violence following a statewide bandh on October 23. The relief measures aim to help families and traders rebuild their homes and businesses. During his visit to Shantirbazar Market in Dhalai district on November 13, Saha assessed the extent of the damage and met with affected shop owners and residents. He declared immediate relief provisions: Rs 3 lakh for houses and shops that were completely destroyed, Rs 1.5 lakh for severely damaged properties, and Rs 15,000 for structures that sustained partial damage.

The violence erupted after the Tripura Civil Society called for a state-wide bandh last month, leaving multiple properties damaged and displacing residents. Speaking to the public, the Chief Minister urged people “to maintain peace and tranquillity in the area” while assuring them of full government support for rehabilitation and restoration efforts.

Saha directed the district magistrate to implement necessary measures to help affected families and traders return to normalcy. He also confirmed that injured persons would receive appropriate assistance, though specific compensation amounts were not disclosed.
