In observance of Loktak Day, a 12-kilometer Loktak Run 2024 was planned with the goal of raising awareness about the need to preserve Loktak Lake and encouraging a healthy lifestyle. This body of water, located in the center of the Northeast Indian state of Manipur, is important to the state’s tourism and culture. On Thursday, Loktak Day was celebrated with a 12-kilometer run called the Loktak Run. The subject of the event this year was “Save Loktak, Stop Plastic Pollution.” Sendra started the run, which came to an end at Ningthoukhong Higher Secondary School. The ceremony was officially opened by LDA chairman M Asnikumar and MLA S Premchandra.
MLA S Premchandra emphasized the ecological significance of Loktak Lake during her speech during the function. He discussed how the body of water sustains a diverse range of plants and animals in addition to a large human population. In addition, he discussed the necessity of protecting this natural habitat for the sake of future generations. The LDA chairman, meantime, discussed the water body’s cultural and historical value and the necessity of safeguarding it from harm. Additionally, he listed some of the actions that the public sector, businesses, and private citizens had taken in this regard.
