The railway to Sairang

The Indian Railways has commissioned a 51.38 km track to Sairang, 18 km short of Mizoram’s capital Aizawl, as part of India’s Act East Policy, which aims to establish rail and road links with Southeast Asia. The project, which began in 2008-09, has been delayed due to weather, terrain, manpower shortages, and material transport issues. The project cost over ₹5,020 crore and involved 18 workers.
