Tata AIA Life Insurance has relaunched its Vitality wellness programme, strengthening its focus on preventive healthcare by combining life insurance protection with rewards for healthier lifestyle choices. The enhanced offering aims to make wellness more accessible through lower activity targets, improved health tracking and enhanced renewal premium discounts.
The programme now allows members to earn activity points from 5,000 daily steps, compared with the earlier threshold of 7,500, and integrates Health Connect to improve the tracking of steps, heart rate and other health data. Members can progress through Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers by completing activities such as workouts and health screenings. Benefits include discounts on fitness products, wearables and gym memberships through partners including Decathlon, Puma, Google, FitPass and cult.fit.
Tata AIA cited a seven-year study involving around 465,000 Vitality members, peer-reviewed by the London School of Economics, which found that moving from inactivity to an active lifestyle could reduce mortality risk by up to 57%. The company said the potential five-year increase in life expectancy is indicative and individual outcomes may vary.
In Aizawl, the programme could create opportunities to promote wellness-linked insurance among customers seeking preventive healthcare and long-term financial security. Its adoption will depend on affordability, awareness and access to participating health and fitness services.
“ The future of insurance lies in prevention as much as protection,” said SujeetKothare, Chief Business Officer – Proprietary Business, Propositions & Marketing, Tata AIA Life Insurance.
Tata AIA reported total premium income of ₹38,164 crore in FY26, marking 21% growth over FY25.
