On Sunday, General Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd), the Governor of Mizoram, officially launched the second edition of the PNB Soldierathon 2026, a collaborative event organized by Punjab National Bank and the Indian Armed Forces to celebrate the bank’s 132nd Foundation Day. The marathon, themed “Run For Soldiers,” took place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi and aimed to honor the heroes of Operation Sindoor while promoting physical fitness as part of the Fit India Campaign. The event saw participation from over 27,000 individuals.
During his speech, General Singh commended the Soldierathon for its role in emphasizing the significance of physical fitness and overall health within the community. He pointed out that the initiative, which is part of the Fit India Campaign, serves as a platform to educate the public on the importance of cultivating a strong and healthy body. He expressed confidence that spreading this crucial message will yield benefits for society at large.
The marathon consisted of three race categories: a 21.1 km Half Marathon, a 10 km Run, and a 5 km Run, with a combined prize pool of Rs 19.5 lakh. The principal objective of the event was not only to pay tribute to soldiers but also to encourage fitness across a diverse range of participants.
