The passing-out parade of the 70th batch of Mizoram Police constables was held at the Police Training School (PTS) in Thenzawl on Saturday.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma attended the event as the Chief Guest, while Home Minister K. Sapdanga was present as the Guest of Honour.
Congratulating the newly graduated constables and their families, the Chief Minister highlighted that government recruitments are now being conducted transparently under the principle of “Equality for All,” which has restored the youth’s faith in the government system.
He emphasized that the 275 new police personnel standing in the parade were selected through a fair, competitive process purely on merit, without any political backing or favoritism from ministers or politicians.
“We expect qualified personnel to deliver quality service to our state,” the Chief Minister stated, adding that the government is committed to efficiency and will fearlessly reject unqualified candidates. He noted that this scrutiny is not limited to new recruits but also extends to identifying underperforming personnel currently within the service.
The Chief Minister remarked that nations with an efficient police force enjoy peaceful societies. He stressed that good conduct and quality service from the police elevate the image of the state, reassure the public, and build trust in the government.
Addressing the graduates, who completed 45 weeks of comprehensive professional training at PTS, he assured them that they are now fully equipped and sharp enough to execute their duties confidently. He urged them to uphold justice without fear or favor when investigating crimes and enforcing laws. He reaffirmed that the government’s core motto is establishing righteousness and upholding the rule of law.
Expressing concern over the historical loss of police personnel due to alcohol abuse during their service, the Chief Minister reminded the officers that physical fitness must remain a lifelong commitment beyond their training period. He further stated that the government will continue to modernize the police force, equipping them to counter emerging forms of crime and stay ahead of criminals.
Mizoram Director General of Police (DGP) Sharad Agarwal also congratulated the trainees on successfully completing their course and urged them to maintain strict self-discipline to keep their minds and bodies sharp.
The graduating 70th batch comprises 275 personnel (249 males and 26 females).
During the ceremony, the chief guest also presented awards to the outstanding trainees who excelled during the 45-week training period.
