Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has announced that the Central government will waive a payable amount of Rs 5.23 crore, which was the depreciated cost of vacated Assam Rifles facilities in Aizawl. This decision comes after a request made to Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nitiyanand Rai in May of the previous year. The amount reflects the diminished value of the buildings and infrastructure that the Mizoram government was obligated to settle due to wear and tear. The Assam Rifles removed its presence from Aizawl, fulfilling a long-standing demand from the local populace, in March 2025 and relocated to Zokhawsang, approximately 15 km from the state capital.
