The swearing-in ceremony of the 19 newly elected corporators of the Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) was held on Thursday at the Board of Corporators (BOC) Meeting Hall, AMC Office, Thuampui. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor were also elected during the function. The function was chaired by Municipal Commissioner Joseph H. Lalramsanga. After the names of the newly elected corporators were read out, Aizawl District Magistrate Lalhriatpuia, administered the oath of allegiance to the Constitution of India to the 19 newly elected AMC corporators.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, the election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor was conducted in accordance with Section 4 of The Mizoram Municipalities (Procedures & Conduct of Business) Rules, 2007. As there were no other candidates, Ward VI Corporator H. Lalremtluanga was declared elected as Mayor and Ward XVI Corporator R. Lalawmpuii as Deputy Mayor under Rule 4(5). The newly elected Mayor and Deputy Mayor also took the oath of secrecy.The newly elected Mayor, H. Lalremtluanga, appointed four Executive Corporators namely: Christina Roluahpuii Sailo (Ward VIII), Vanlalhruaia (Ward XIII), Vanlalfaka (Ward III) and K. Lalrodinga (Ward XVIII). The Executive Corporators also took the oath of secrecy.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Lalduhoma, Assembly Speaker Lalbiakzama, Ministers K. Sapdanga, C. Lalsawivunga, Dr. Vanlalthlana, B. Lalchhanzova, Prof. Lalnilawma and Lalnghinglova Hmar, besides Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) K. Vanlalvena and MLAs Lalchhuanthanga and H.Ginzalal.
