Nagaland Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen launched the Nagaland LabourChowk mobile application at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall in Kohima on September 2, aiming to modernise employment and welfare services for Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) across the state.
According to a DIPR report, the application has been developed as an initiative of the Department of Labour through the Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (NBOCWWB). It is designed to provide construction workers with a transparent and accessible digital platform to find employment and access various welfare services.
The LabourChowk app connects registered construction workers with employers and allows workers to search for available employment opportunities through their mobile phones. The platform also seeks to provide easier access to welfare schemes and skill development services.
The initiative is intended to transform the traditional labour chowk system into a more organised and digitally enabled service. Through the platform, workers can register themselves, search for jobs and engage with employers, while employers can find and connect with registered workers based on their requirements.
The digital system is also expected to improve transparency and service delivery within the BOCW ecosystem by bringing worker registration, job searches and labour engagement onto a single platform.
The Nagaland LabourChowk mobile application is available for download on the Google Play Store. Construction workers can search for “Nagaland LabourChowk”, download the application and complete the registration process to access employment opportunities and other available services.
