Green and Maroon lost 2-1 against Odisha in the first leg of the semi-final. They beat them 2-0 in Sunday’s match to reach the ISL final again. Aggregate 3-2 in two matches. In the 22nd minute of the match, Dimitri Petratos of Mohunbagan hit a strong right-footed shot from outside the box. Odisha’s goalkeeper, Amarinder, somehow saved that ball.

In the meantime, Bagan defender Hector saved the line. Odisha’s Issac headed well after Roy Krishna’s cross. Goalkeeper Vishal Keith was out of place. Odisha could have scored. But this 36-year-old defender became the savior.

Shortly after this, Mohun Bagan got a golden opportunity for the second goal. Manveer Singh came rushing up the right side. Cummins was running with him. If Manveer had crossed him, the green and maroon would have easily taken a 2-0 lead. But Manveer wasted the opportunity due to his mistake.

Odisha also wasted several easy chances in this match. One of the reasons is the inefficiency of scoring goals. And the second reason is Mohun Bagan’s great defense. Apart from Hector, Manveer made a great save in the second half of the match. Isaac could have scored if he hadn’t blocked Roy Krishna’s center pass.

Everyone assumed that Mohun Bagan would go into extra time with a 1-0 lead. Because the aggregate was still standing at 2-2. But after the appointed 90 minutes, Sahal Abdul Samad, who came on the field as a substitute, completed the game during injury time. He scored just three minutes before the last whistle. He caught Manbir’s cross and somehow put the ball into the net.
