Two individuals tragically lost their lives and another sustained injury when a vehicle they were traveling in veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Phullen, a village in the Saitual district of Mizoram, as confirmed by police on Monday. The accident took place on Sunday afternoon while the three occupants were en route from their home village of Luangpawn to attend a Presbyterian Church youth conference in Phullen, which is situated approximately 20 kilometers away. Concerned family members reported the absence of the three individuals to local residents who subsequently initiated a search. Their vehicle was ultimately located at the accident site near Phullen village. Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle lost control and skidded off the road into the gorge. The deceased were identified as Lalthansanga, 33, the driver, and Lalawmsanga, 37, while their companion, known as Lalnunzira, was rescued and transported to Saitual Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment. Authorities have stated that the exact cause of the accident remains undetermined and that an investigation is ongoing.
