Eklavya model schools

The government of Mizoram is working to expand the network of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) to enhance access to quality education for tribal students residing in remote regions. Chief Minister Lalduhoma chaired a meeting of the EMRS state governing council, where they deliberated on strategies to boost enrollment and generate local employment opportunities.

At present, Mizoram has 11 operational EMRS institutions, with plans for six additional schools in the future. Each EMRS provides free residential education for up to 480 students, focusing on grades 6 through 12. The state is dedicated to improving infrastructure and staffing to establish EMRS as a more effective educational platform.
