The Mizoram government has announced plans to build a ropeway at Vantawng Falls in Serchhip district to improve tourism facilities and support the local economy. An official said the project will come up near Thenzawl town, where the state’s highest waterfall is located. The ropeway will allow visitors to view the falls from above, giving a wider and clearer view of the natural site.

The project will be funded under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme. A total amount of ₹34.50 crore has been sanctioned, and administrative approval has already been given.Officials said that while the financial and administrative clearances are in place, the process to select a contractor for the project is still pending. Work is expected to begin after the contractor is finalised.

Vantawng Falls, located around 92 km from Aizawl, is one of the most visited tourist spots in Mizoram. However, access and viewing options at the site are limited at present. The ropeway is expected to improve visitor experience and make the location more accessible.
