Mizoram took a significant step towards strengthening technology-based education with the launch of the Northeast region’s first New Age Tech Skills Centre at the Government Comprehensive Model School in Aizawl. The centre was inaugurated by Mizoram School Education Minister Vanlalthlana and is aimed at providing students with hands-on training in emerging technologies and industry-relevant technical skills. Officials said the facility has been established under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Bharat Forge Limited with technical support from SimuSoft Technologies in collaboration with the School Education Department.
The centre is equipped to offer training in a range of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), 3D printing, computer-aided design (CAD), CNC simulation and drone technology. The initiative is expected to give students early exposure to rapidly evolving technological fields and prepare them for future academic and career opportunities. According to officials, the project has been designed to bridge the gap between traditional classroom learning and practical technological applications. Through hands-on training and project-based learning, students will gain a better understanding of modern technologies that are increasingly shaping industries across the world.
The New Age Tech Skills Centre is also expected to help build innovation, creativity and problem-solving abilities among students while encouraging interest in science, engineering and technology-related disciplines. Officials said the initiative is aligned with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises skill development, experiential learning and the integration of technology into education. The launch of the centre marks an important milestone for Mizoram’s education sector and reflects the state’s efforts to equip young learners with future-ready skills in an increasingly technology-driven world.
