The State Tourism Department in Mizoram held its inaugural year-end sunset viewing program called “Sakawrhmuituai Sunset” at Sakawrhmuituai Hill on New Year’s Eve. The event was graced by the presence of Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar and local MLA Lalthansanga, who also serves as the Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change. In his speech, Minister Hmar commended the commitment of the Sihphir village leaders and residents, whose cooperation was pivotal for the successful execution of the event. He emphasized that this initiative aligns with his vision of promoting community-based tourism and highlighted the scenic beauty of Sakawrhmuituai Hill, projecting its potential to attract more visitors from outside Mizoram. Hmar expressed plans for a larger-scale event in the future and hoped that local communities would see economic benefits from the influx of tourists. MLA Lalthansanga echoed these sentiments, praising the partnership between the Tourism Department and Sihphir village in facilitating the event. The program saw participation from both local residents and many tourists from elsewhere, who were entertained by popular contemporary Mizo singers celebrating the New Year. The Sihphir community organized food stalls and carnival activities to enhance the festive atmosphere. With well-coordinated measures for security, medical services, and traffic, attendees enjoyed the event in a safe and celebratory environment.
